| | EDIT: Ok, so in addition to being on the NAACP day (which I'm
in), the wednesday meeting also falls on german club which will be
putting out most of the people who are interested. So
everybody! Remember, we won't really be doing much this wednesday
except seeing who shows up and meeting new people, but next wednesday
will be a real meeting and I'll disseminate (mmm tasty) info about the
recycling project.
Hello and welcome to the unfinished, pooptacular new Young Activists
blog. Hopefully this site will stay updated with info about the
club and the projects going on in it. If you have any questions
please drop a comment on this xanga, my xanga, or email me at
restate.my.assumptions@gmail.com .
We will be having our first meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 28, in Mr. Dugan's room (421).
The focus of this club is going to be
discussing and carrying out various progressive projects to
benefit our school and community. First up on the roster is going
to be a greatly expanded recycling program to include plastics and
aluminum cans. After that's been hashed out, everybody is *very*
encouraged to submit an idea for a project. If you can get some
support from others within the group then we'll get to working on
it.
This club isn't student council or national honor society. You
should join because you care about what you believe in, not because
it's going to look good on your college/scholarship application.
I founded it because I was really dissatisfied with the lumbering
inability of other clubs to do anything meaningful for the school and
community besides prom or dances. There aren't going to be any
officers. After it gets off the ground hopefully I won't have to
"lead" it anymore. Most of the details haven't been determined
yet because I want the members to make as many decisions as possible
about what happens in the club!
SO! If you're interested in doing something you believe in for
the benefit of your school and community, *please* come join us on
wednesday!
